A European Commission Institute for Energy spokesperson opined that solar farms in the Sahara Desert could produce enough energy to power all of Europe by creating a “supergrid.” The investment could cost around 450 billion pounds but could fulfill the dream of using sustainable energy as the world’s main source of power for the future. NYS Assembly and Senate, in recognition that global warming needs to be addressed, have passed bills to: create a task force to research the potential impacts of climate change; better inform consumers regarding greenhouse gas emissions from motor vehicles by requiring global warning index labels on the windows of new automobiles and to establish the New York State Sea Level Rise Task Force to evaluate ways of protecting the coastlines and natural habitats in the face of sea level rise brought on by global warming.
