10 Simple Things

Here are 10 simple things you can do (and they’re easy, too.)

1.) Change one light bulb in your home to a compact fluorescent bulb. One light bulb changed equals 150 pounds of carbon dioxide not emitted into the atmosphere.

2.) Drive less; carpool, walk and bike more. Saves money and the environment.

3.) Recycle! Create a recycling bin in your home.
It's easy and effective.

4.) Keep your tires inflated. Not only does it decrease carbon dioxide emissions, it saves you money on gas.

5.) Use less hot water. A lot of energy is needed to heat water. Try to use cold water when doing laundry.
Dry clothes on a line.

6.) Cut down on garbage. Reuse, donate, rethink before purchasing. You can save 1200 pounds of carbon dioxide if you cut garbage by 10%.

7.) Adjust your thermostat. Save 4,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year by moving your thermostat up or down only 2 degrees with the seasons. Caulk or weather strip all your doors and windows. Insulate all your walls and ceilings.

8.) Reduce water consumption. Use the dishwasher only when it's full and install low-flow shower heads.

9.) Plant a tree. Trees take in carbon dioxide.

10.) Turn off and unplug electronic devices. Save carbon dioxide and money by turning off and unplugging your stereo, DVD player and television when not in use.
