Way Welcomes Steve Holliday at Gala During Inaugural

Long Island
United
Way of Long Island honored National Grid chief executive
Steve Holliday and the generosity of the National Grid
employees on Long Island at its Evening of Celebration
Gala. The event raised over $325,000, which will be used
to fund United Way of Long Island’s community impact
initiatives in the areas of improving access to health
care, supporting children and youth, reducing hunger and
assisting neighbors in need.
Long Islanders have benefited from the generosity of National Grid employees
and National Grid U.S. chairman Bob Catell, who have contributed $5.8 million
to United Way of Long Island during the past 10 years.
Highlights
of the evening included a live auction by Rusty Staub and
presentation of an honorary team jersey to Steve Holliday
by the New York Islanders.

Through
his work on an international stage, Steve Holliday has
become one of the most respected and recognized figures
in the energy industry. Appointed chief executive of National
Grid in January 2007, Steve joined National Grid Group
PLC as group director for the United Kingdom and Europe
in March 2001, and quickly rose through the ranks. He is
the former executive director of British Borneo Oil and
Gas and spent 19 years with the Exxon Group, where he held
senior positions in the international gas business. Holliday
has developed business opportunities involving countries
from all over the world, including China, Australia, Japan,
Brazil, the former Soviet Union and the United States.
