Ford Fusion Hybrid has won the 2010 Car of the Year, It even beat out its non-hybrid version, the Fusion sedan. Why? According to one juror, it is the best one ever built, gives excellent mileage and looks and drives like a very good regular car. www.grist.org

In January, a Chinese developer and eSolar of California agreed to build, over the next ten years, solar thermal plants in the Mongolian desert which would generate 2,000 megawatts of electricity. Read the whole story about China’s green investments and how they could affect the US at www.grist.com

Environmental Capital, the Wall Street Journal site, provides up-to-the-minute news as well as analysis of the energy and environmental picture in the US and elsewhere. Recent subjects covered oil prices, green jet engines, green jobs, improving energy waste in skyscrapers and much more.

Another interesting newspaper source via the New York Times is their Dot Earth. It notes by about 2050 the world population will reach nine billion which equates to adding the population of two Chinas to the earth’s inhabitants. Dot Earth addresses efforts to balance the needs of such a burgeoning population with the planet’s available resources examining trends, ideas and solutions from experts and readers.
